On Saturday, December 9th, Council Member Dwight Boykins will host the 4th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting & Kwanzaa Celebration on Almeda. Festivities began with live music, a one-of-a-kind fashion show and an interactive Kwanzaa Village.

The Holiday Tree Lighting & Kwanzaa Celebration on Almeda is the official kick-off for the holiday season and is free of charge. There will be live entertainment by Brian Jack and the Zydeco Gamblers, a one-of-a-kind fashion show, and an interactive Kwanzaa Village. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy holiday beverages and food available from our various vendor stands and food trucks. There will also be photos with Santa and a fantastic kids zone that will include a rock climbing wall.

Santa and Council Member Dwight Boykins will light a towering Holiday Tree, glowing with colorful Christmas lights and shimmering ornaments followed by a one-a-kind fireworks display.

This event is free and open to the public. It is made possible by Visit Houston/Houston First, Houston Southeast, Cigna, HEB, Centerpoint Energy, Cigna, NRG, and The Mayor Office of Special Events.
